Taught in English.
Course Narrative: Span 362 was an interesting class. I took this class with Dr. Gonzales. We develop skills in critical thinking and literary analysis, including interpretive, close reading and writing skills. I was able to Identify and describe literary texts from Latin America, and have a broad overview of its historic development from the colonial era up through the 20th century. At first I thought it was going to be a difficult class since I thought this class was going to be in Spanish but not in English but as time passed it became one of my favorite classes since it involved a lot of critical analysis work. We were also able to describe, compare and contrast the literary genres studied throughout the course, including short stories, poetry, and essays. This course helped me to learn different techniques to translate into English, in addition to this course I was able to have a better understanding of any topic that we had analyzed. Finally, I was able to do a presentation about the novel Pedro Paramo written by Juan Rulfo, which was really interesting to learn about.
